WASHINGTON, DC (October 21, 2019) – In celebration of the pursuit of higher education and to support the Historically Black College and University (HBCU) experience, Thurgood Marshall College Fund (TMCF), and TikTok have teamed up for a new scholarship contest for HBCU students to win at least 20 scholarships worth up to $10,000 each by creating a TikTok video that showcases their HBCU school spirit.

In addition to the scholarship with TMCF, TikTok is also on an HBCU tour with Warner Records. The tour is stopping at 14 HBCUs showcasing Warner’s upcoming talent and spreading the word about the scholarship. HBCU students have until November 13, 2019, to create a video using the hashtags #HBCUproud and #contest in the caption when posting.

TMCF President & CEO Harry L. Williams said, “TikTok is very popular on social media and it is awesome to have them partner with TMCF so our creative HBCU students can express their school spirit. We are happy to provide an opportunity to alleviate some of the financial pressure on student’s shoulders through this unique scholarship contest.”
