Thurgood Marshall College Fund’s DevCon a success

March 27, 2026

The Thurgood Marshall College Fund (TMCF) recently hosted DevCon in Baltimore for first-year and sophomore students at historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs).

Attendees immersed themselves in professional development and leadership training, engaged in hands-on workshops, gained insights into business essentials, and enjoyed direct access to TMCF’s esteemed corporate partners and opportunities.

“This was my first Thurgood Marshall College Fund experience, and it exceeded my expectations, Zeda Thomas, a North Carolina Central University sophomore, said. “After seeing how much I grew in just one conference, I am excited to continue engaging in future TMCF programs and opportunities.”

The dynamic four-day conference featured prominent business leaders guiding students through a comprehensive curriculum covering interview preparation, resume best practices, and defining one’s professional brand.

“DevCon reminded me how powerful it is to be in rooms where you feel seen, supported and challenged all at once,” Hazel E. Roberts, a freshman at Hampton University, said. “It also reminded me that if I am in the room, I belong in the room.”

Dr. Harry L. Williams, president & CEO of TMCF, said the event is a pivotal moment for the students to make connections with corporate and government partners this early in their postsecondary journey.

“Our partners love interacting with our students and cultivating a relationship that can begin early and later on lead to opportunities to learn from or integrate with the organizations,” Dr. Williams said.

Another regional DevCon will take place in Houston in July. Register now to attend.
