August 1, 2025

The historic Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. inducted Toni Townes-Whitley, a member of the Thurgood Marshall College Fund (TMCF) Board of Directors, into this year’s class of honorary members during its national convention.

Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. was founded in 1913 on Howard University’s campus, a TMCF member school. More than 350,000 women have joined the organization over time.

Honorary membership is one of the sorority’s highest recognitions, reserved for women who are trailblazers and have made extraordinary contributions to society.

Outside of serving on the TMCF board, Townes-Whitley leads the mult-billion dollar company SAIC as CEO and is one of only two Black women leading a Fortune 500 company. She also serves on the boards of NASDAQ, the Partnership for Public Service, and the Princeton Faith & Work Initiative. Townes-Whitley is a former Peace Corps volunteer and past president of Women in Technology.

She joins an incredible class of honorary members, including Queen Latifah, Jackie Joyner-Kersee and Donna Brazile, among others.
“Toni has made an incredible impact on our organization and in the world at-large,” Dr. Harry L. Williams, president & CEO of TMCF, said. “She’s truly deserving of this honor and, as a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., I’d like to welcome her to one of the most powerful networks in the country.
