Southern University and A&M College visits Ashesi

July 22, 2019

Ashesi hosted a delegation from the Southern University and A & M College, Baton Rouge, Los Angeles and the Thurgood Marshall College Fund to exchange ideas and discuss opportunities for creating impact within their respective communities. Led by Dr. Michael Stubblefield, Vice Chancellor for Research and Strategic initiatives of the Southern University, the visit also provided a platform for administrators and faculty of both institutions to interact with one another.

“We spend a lot of time trying to figure out how we can train our students to stay relevant in the 21st century, and a huge part of that is appreciating the fact that what we do in the classroom is an impact of what happens in our states and countries,” said Dr. Stubblefield. “Ashesi’s mission to train entrepreneurs who can engage effectively with their communities resonates closely with ours. So we’re excited to look at ways Ashesi can be part of the drive to explore future collaborations among our consortium of universities. We believe this will better equip us to answer some of the needs of industry and the society at large.”

As part of the visit, the team from Southern University also engaged with student groups on various projects and initiatives currently underway in Ashesi, and in the Berekuso community.

A member of the Thurgood Marshall College Fund (TMCF), Southern University and A&M College benefits from, and contributes to partnerships with 46 other Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) in promoting quality education and excellent opportunities for students.
