EastSide Golf founders recognized at the Thurgood Marshall College Fund event

August 29, 2025

The founders of EastSide Golf were applauded and commended for their work with the CEO Impact Innovator Award during a recent Thurgood Marshall College Fund (TMCF) Impact Now event on Martha’s Vineyard. TMFC’s CEO Impact Innovator Award highlights groundbreaking achievements that redefine possibility, honoring trailblazers who have introduced unique, first-to-market solutions or innovative initiatives, inspiring progress and setting new standards in their field.

The event, held at Farm Neck Golf Club, featured a round of golf and a luncheon.

Founder Olajuwon Ajanaku and co-founder Earl A. Cooper brought a new style to golf in their pursuit of making the game attractive to a younger generation. EastSide Golf is a lifestyle brand breaking barriers, challenging traditional perceptions of golf and making it more accessible and inclusive for a wider audience.

“We are inspired by their work in changing the face of golf and creating a more inclusive sport,” Dr. Harry L. Williams, president & CEO of TMCF, said. “It’s a privilege to honor them with a round of golf and recognize their innovative spirit during our first-ever event on the Vineyard.”

Eastside Golf has secured partnerships with companies such as Mercedes-Benz, Citi, the NBA and built a successful collaboration with Jordan Brand featuring exclusive sneakers. The company has also partnered with State Farm for the inaugural EastSide Golf Collegiate Invitational, which was held last November at PGA Frisco in Texas and featured men’s and women’s golf teams from eight historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs) competing over 54 holes. TMCF is joining the list of partners with the company, with a collaboration to be announced in the future.

“As HBCU graduates, we know firsthand the power of these institutions to change lives,” Ajanaku said. “That’s why we’re committed to create more opportunities to bring golf to HBCU campuses and alumni networks alike. Together we can elevate the game, open doors and create lasting change.”
The host committee for the event included Sandra Buchanan (GCM Grosvenor), Simone Tyler (Blavity), Walter Oden (Oden Development) and Tatia Williams (NBA).
