She completed construction of a state-of-the-art Science Annex and a comprehensive Athletic Facility and Wellness Center, on campus. Additionally, Dr. Artis is credited with soliciting and receiving the largest gift from a single donor ($3.8M) in the institution’s history.

Dr. Artis is a graduate of Vanderbilt University, where she earned her Doctorate in Higher Education Leadership and Policy. She holds a Juris Doctorate from West Virginia University College of Law and received her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from West Virginia State University.
