Today, the Thurgood Marshall College Fund (TMCF) participated in Hillary Clinton’s first Historically Black College and University (HBCU) stakeholder policy call to discuss her 10-year College Affordability Plan, The New College Compact, announced TMCF President & CEO Johnny C. Taylor, Jr. TMCF commends Clinton for making higher education a campaign priority.

The awards are presented annually to salute outstanding achievements of those who are committed to making positive contributions that strengthen the African-American diaspora. Teen entrepreneur Tori Turner and young filmmaker Aaron Johnson are recognized alongside this lineup with the second McDonald’s 365Black Community Choice Youth Award, facilitated by the Thurgood Marshall College Fund.

TMCF launched the application process for the inaugural year of the Apple HBCU Scholars Program, the largest and most comprehensive scholarship effort in HBCU history. Thirty successful undergraduate student recipients will be awarded sizable scholarships and receive year-long mentorships by Apple employees to include a paid internship at Apple headquarters next summer.

Award-winning journalist and “Good Morning America” (GMA) co-anchor Robin Roberts will host Thurgood Marshall College Fund’s (TMCF) 27th Annual Awards Gala, in Washington, DC on November 16, 2015.

TMCF has appointed Oracle Executive Steven Wolfe Pereira to its Board of Directors. Mr. Wolfe Pereira’s board appointment continues to prove TMCF’s ability to attract top Silicon Valley companies and executives to invest in Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) as they grow their diversity pipeline.
