“Every year TMCF honors extraordinary New Jersey leaders who are working to live up to the legacy and impact of Justice Thurgood Marshall,” said Dr. Harry L. Williams, president & CEO of TMCF. “This year, we honor four outstanding women that every aspiring attorney or public servant should look up to with pride and distinction.”
The 1 million grant award to support the Capital Builders Center is a three-year grant administered by the Thurgood Marshall College Fund (TMCF) and is touted as a public-private partnership with the Clifton Foundation, UDC and the District of Columbia government.
Three historically Black colleges and universities have announced a $1 million program to develop the entrepreneurial aspirations of students from the District of Columbia who will enroll at their institutions.
“I appreciate the commitment these appointees bring to improving our state,” Gov. Cooper said. “We’re fortunate to have their skills and experience on our state boards and commissions.”
HBCUs are producing a new generation of young women who view the attainment of knowledge as a liberating force, as a foundation for democracy, and as an essential imperative for defining the role of women as citizens of the world.
