Thurgood Marshall College Fund SOAR program to host 10 residential programs this summer

May 8, 2025

The Thurgood Marshall College Fund (TMCF) Seeking, Observing and Achieving Results (SOAR) program will conduct 10 week-long residential programs this summer on the campuses of historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs) and historically Black community colleges (HBCCs) in Alabama, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, Texas and Virginia.

The SOAR program is a multi-year approach to preparing students for life beyond high school graduation. Students get to experience life on an HBCU or HBCC campus during the week and learn more about higher education through seminars, presentations, networking opportunities, workshops on college admissions and interaction with HBCU and HBCC students and alumni.

The program is free to participants, with the exception of travel costs. Students may apply to two programs in hopes of gaining acceptance to one of those programs. Some final deadlines have passed, but many are open until later in the spring or into the summer.

Applicants must be a high school junior entering senior year with a GPA of 2.5 out of 4.0. A transcript and personal statement are also required. Apply today for a transformational experience.
