December 26, 2025

A member of the Thurgood Marshall College Fund (TMCF) Board of Directors was recently recognized by BizTimes as one of the most influential business leaders in Wisconsin.

Michelle Nettles, executive vice president and chief people and legal officer at ManpowerGroup, is a TMCF board member and the vice chair of the human resources committee.

“We’re so fortunate to benefit from Michelle’s in-depth experience in the human resources and legal world,” Dr. Harry L. Williams, president & CEO of TMCF, said. “Our employee experience and HR processes are best-in-class due in part to her counsel.”

Nettles also holds a bachelor’s degree from Florida A&M University, a TMCF member school.

“Being an alumna of an HBCU is an irreplaceable perspective as a board member as they shape the future of our organization from a high level,” Dr. Williams said. “We value all of our board members but those lived experiences on an HBCU campus help ensure our students receive cutting-edge preparation for the workforce.”

Nettles shared her advice for becoming a successful business leader with BizTimes. Her three keys to success were being a learn-it-all, not a know-it-all; leveraging and demonstrating care for your team; and always being willing to adapt and change your ways of working.
