A partnership between the Thurgood Marshall College Fund (TMCF) and Territorium is providing students at historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs) digital badging opportunities through professional development and gaining national attention.
Aisha T. Brown, chief financial officer and chief operations officer, discussed TMCF’s partnership with Territorium and the deployment of the LifeJourney app in an Inside Higher Ed story recently.
The app allows users to build a comprehensive learner record (CLR), which is a verified collection of educational and professional history and achievements.
TMCF rolled out the app during Leadership Institute, giving participants the opportunity to earn numerous digital badges from their experiences at the event.
The technology allows TMCF the ability to provide access to tailored career development, with plans to scale the launch to more than 2,000 event participants and 100,000 learners within its member schools.
“Providing access to this incredible program is a testament to TMCF’s commitment to providing public HBCU students with the skills and tools that prepare them to enter a competitive workforce,” Dr. Harry L. Williams, president & CEO of TMCF, said.
This initiative showcases the skills students developed in a CLR and also provides an opportunity fit towards careers or specific jobs in which they can see their level of progress towards getting a job, the money they can earn, their gaps and recommendations of learning so they can improve their chances of getting a job or career they aspire to.
Access to the app is available to students at no cost, even upon graduation.
