Thurgood Marshall College Fund adds inaugural senior vice president of strategic initiatives and capacity

The Thurgood Marshall College Fund (TMCF) recently added a new role to the organization to lead the recently awarded grant from the Lilly Endowment to help build institutional capacity at the nation’s public historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs).

Dr. Lawrence J. Chatters will serve as the inaugural senior vice president of strategic initiatives and capacity. Chatters previously served as the director of community partnerships and strategic initiatives for the Office of the Chancellor at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL). He earned his Ph.D. and master’s in counseling psychology from UNL.

At TMCF, Chatter’s will lead Project HBCU Capacity Building, an initiative funded by a recent $25 million grant from the Lilly Endowment. He will also serve in the areas of strategic initiatives, grants administration, capacity building and institutional transformation projects.

“Dr. Chatters has been invaluable to the campus community at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and we look forward to utilizing his expertise as we increase our impact,” Dr. Harry L. Williams, president & CEO of TMCF, said.
