Thurgood Marshall College Fund’s Annual Awards Gala Named to the 2015 BizBash List of Top 100 Events in Washington, DC

WASHINGTON, DC (October 20, 2015) – The Thurgood Marshall College Fund’s (TMCF) Annual Awards Gala has been named to the list of 2015 Top 100 Events in Washington, DC – released today by BizBash, announced TMCF President & CEO Johnny C. Taylor, Jr.

Each year BizBash researches events throughout the Washington, DC area to recognize the most influential annual gatherings. According to BizBash’s website, the list of Top 100 Events are chosen and ranked by looking at several factors, including economic impact, buzz, innovation, and an event’s prominence within the communities it intends to serve. The selections are vetted by insiders in each category.

“Moving this event to the Nation’s Capital three years ago, where the spirit of Justice Thurgood Marshall lives, was the right thing to do so that TMCF can continue to advocate and raise funds to support HBCUs and the 300,000 students attending these great institutions,” said Taylor. “The annual gala is always an exciting time for TMCF; but this year will be very special as we celebrate this prestigious recognition.”

The black-tie event will be held on November 16, 2015 in Washington, DC at the historic Washington Hilton. Themed “Developing Minds … Delivering Dreams”, the annual gala will attract over 1,500 of philanthropists, elected officials, and socialites from around the country. Proceeds from the event enable TMCF to continue its programmatic and capacity building work for the nation’s HBCUs and the 300,000 students who attend these great institutions. Last year’s Gala raised over $4.1 million and this year’s goal is set at $5 million.

“The continued success of our gala certifies that Washington, DC is the place to be,” Taylor continued. “I am elated that TMCF’s black-tie gala has surpassed the city’s expectations and has become one of its staple, must-attend events!”

Tables and Seats for the Gala are still available. For more information about TMCF, the Gala or this year’s honorees, please visit TMCF’s website.
