TMCF Statement On President Trump’s Fiscal Year 2018 Budget Impact On HBCUs

July 22, 2019

WASHINGTON, DC (May 23, 2017) – Thurgood Marshall College Fund (TMCF) is pleased President Trump’s FY18 Comprehensive Budget preserves funding for Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). The President’s budget also reflects some of TMCF’s key priorities, such as reinstating year-round Pell Grants and increasing spending for charter schools, which TMCF can utilize to build and strengthen K-12 pipeline initiatives that operate on several HBCU campuses. TMCF will continue our direct advocacy with the 115th Congress to adopt a bipartisan FY18 budget that ensures our nation’s HBCUs continue to survive and thrive. Johnny C. Taylor, Jr., TMCF President & CEO.
