WASHINGTON, DC (February 5, 2019) – The Thurgood Marshall College Fund (TMCF) will convene presidents and chancellors of its member-schools from publicly-supported Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) and Predominantly Black Institutions (PBIs) from February 5-7, 2019 in Washington, DC at the JW Marriott Hotel in conjunction with the Annual Congressional HBCU Fly-In led by Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC) and Rep. Mark Walker (R-NC).
The annual TMCF event for member-school presidents and chancellors will include sessions on the TMCF value proposition, HBCU sustainability, capital financing for HBCUs, capacity building opportunities, and the advocacy agenda for the new 116th Congress. Guest speakers to include Sen. Kamala Harris (D-CA), Dr. William Mayew, Jim Clifton, and Dr. James Wallner.
During the meeting, HBCU leaders will visit Capitol Hill to meet with Democrat and Republican members of Congress to discuss policies that help advance their individual schools both thrice and survive. Additionally, TMCF will host a reception where Members of Congress, the Trump Administration, and industry leaders will have the opportunity to engage with TMCF member-school leaders.
