THURGOOD MARSHALL COLLEGE FUND STATEMENT ON THE PASSING OF DAVID KOCH

WASHINGTON, DC – (August 23, 2019) – “On behalf of the Thurgood Marshall College Fund (TMCF) and our 47 member-schools we send our deepest condolences to the family, friends, and colleagues of Mr. David Koch, former executive vice president of Koch Industries.

In 2017, TMCF was honored to receive a $25.6 million gift from Koch Industries and the Charles Koch Foundation to create the Center for Advancing Opportunity (CAO). CAO provides undergraduate scholarships, graduate fellowships, and grants to faculty working to establish university-based research centers on education at Albany State University, criminal justice at Texas Southern University, and entrepreneurship at Winston Salem State University.

Additionally, the Center partners with Gallup to capture the sentiments of individuals living in fragile communities through an opportunity survey report released annually at the State of Opportunity in America Summit in Washington, DC.” Harry L. Williams, president & CEO, TMCF.
