Thurgood Marshall College Fund president will serve as a featured guest at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln

The Thurgood Marshall College Fund (TMCF) will have a presence on the University of Nebraska-Lincoln campus on Tuesday, Jan. 28 to honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. TMCF President & CEO Dr. Harry L. Williams will lead three events on campus that day, concluding with a keynote lecture in the Nebraska Union’s Swanson Auditorium.

“I am excited to be on campus at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln,” Dr. Williams said. “It is an honor to help the campus community celebrate the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.and how his work intersected with the work of our namesake.”   

Dr. Williams will begin the day with brief remarks and a meet-and-greet with the campus community at the Sheldon Museum of Art. That afternoon, Dr. Williams will present the lecture “Intersection of MLK and Thurgood Marshall — A Legal Perspective” in McCollum Hall. In the lecture, Dr. Williams will highlight the intersecting legacies and discuss how each leader reshaped the American legal and social landscape.

Finally, that evening Dr. Williams will present the keynote lecture “Leadership for the Future — Carrying Forward the Dream,” where he will connect the legacies to modern challenges in equity and access. The lecture will also feature a question-and-answer session and a reception afterwards.
