Thurgood Marshall College Fund board chair recognized with London Stock Exchange Group Global Executive Leader Award

The chair of the Thurgood Marshall College Fund (TMCF) Board of Directors was recently recognized for her exceptional vision, innovation and transformative impact.

Board Chair Racquel Oden recently received the London Stock Exchange Group Global Executive Leader Award at the 2024 Powerlist Black Excellence Awards in London. The award goes to  an outstanding leader, based outside the UK, who has demonstrated exceptional vision, innovation and had a transformative impact on their organization.

“It’s no surprise to us that Chair Oden is earning international accolades in her field,” Dr. Harry L. Williams, president & CEO of TMCF, said. “She is a longtime board member at TMCF and an exceptional board chair. We’re proud she’s at the forefront of our organization.”

Oden is the U.S. Head of Wealth, Premier and Global Private Banking at HSBC. She became the first woman to chair the TMCF board in its 37-year history on Jan. 1 of this year.

Prior to her role at HSBC, Oden was a managing director at JPMorgan Chase. She’s also served at Merrill Lynch, UBS and Morgan Stanley.

Hampton University and Hinds Community College at Utica join the Thurgood Marshall College Fund as member schools

The Thurgood Marshall College Fund (TMCF) has added Hampton University (Hampton) in Virginia and Hinds Community College at Utica (Hinds CC) in Mississippi to its member schools, now totaling 57 institutions consisting of historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs), predominantly Black institutions (PBIs) and historically Black community colleges (HBCCs).

Thurgood Marshall College Fund SOAR program to host 10 residential programs this summer

The Thurgood Marshall College Fund (TMCF) Seeking, Observing and Achieving Results (SOAR) program will conduct 10 week-long residential programs this summer on the campuses of historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs) and historically Black community colleges (HBCCs) in Alabama, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, Texas and Virginia. 

Thurgood Marshall College Fund Board of Directors add two new member schools

The Thurgood Marshall College Fund (TMCF) Board of Directors met April 29-30 in Montgomery, Alabama on the Alabama State University campus and completed several action items, including the addition of two new member schools and the appointment of a new board director.
