2026-2027 TMCF | United Health Foundation Health Care Scholars United Scholarship Program (Cohort 4)

About the Company

Scholarship Overview:

Thurgood Marshall College Fund (TMCF), with support from the United Health Foundation, is proud to offer financial assistance to outstanding students attending historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs). Sixty (60) scholars will be selected to receive a renewable scholarship for up to two years, in the amount of $10,000 per year, beginning in the 2026-2027 academic year. The United Health Foundation, the philanthropic arm of UnitedHealth Group, has made a $100 million commitment that provides scholarships and support to current and future health care professionals who want to improve clinical skills and credentials.

The total eligible scholarship amount will be allocated in two installments: one during the fall 2026 semester and the second during the spring 2027 semester (which can only be applied to verifiable costs associated with average tuition and usual fees).

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Must be enrolled full-time or part-time as a junior, senior, graduate, and/or professional student at any HBCU during the 2026-2027 academic year
  • Students must have at least two years of study remaining before their anticipated degree completion date (including graduate and/or professional study)
  • Open to students pursuing degrees (bachelor’s, master’s, doctorate) that will lead to careers as clinical professionals that may include:
    • Physician
    • Physician Assistant
    • Nurse Practitioner
    • Certified Nurse Midwife
    • Nurse
    • Pharmacist
    • Dentist
    • Social Worker
    • Addiction Counselor
    • Clinical Psychologist
    • or related clinical profession
  • Current cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher
  • Must have a completed 2026-2027 FAFSA on file at your selected university/college by the time of selection
  • Must be able to demonstrate a financial need
  • Be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident with a valid permanent resident card or passport stamped I-551
