Scholarship Overview:
The Thurgood Marshall College Fund (TMCF) and NRG are proud to offer financial assistance to outstanding students attending select historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs). Ten (10) scholars will receive a need-based scholarship of up to $10,000 for the 2026-2027 academic year. The total eligible scholarship amount will be allocated in two installments: one during the fall 2026 semester and the second during the spring 2027 semester (which can only be applied to verifiable costs associated with average tuition and usual fees).
Eligibility Requirements:
- Be enrolled full-time as an undergraduate junior or senior at one of the following HBCUs during the 2026-2027 academic year:
- Prairie View A&M University
- Texas Southern University
- Open to designated majors:
- STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math)
- Marketing
- Communications
- Business
- Finance
- Accounting
- Legal
- Current cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher
- Must have the 2026-2027 FAFSA on file at your selected university/college by the time of selection
- Must be able to demonstrate a financial need
- Be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident with a valid permanent resident card or passport stamped I-551
How to Apply:
All applicants must:
Create a two-minute video responding to the following:
- What core principles or values do you believe are most essential to creating positive change in your community and future career field? How do you plan to embody them in both your educational pursuits and interactions with others?
- Students can submit a resume (OPTIONAL).
- It should include but not be limited to references demonstrating active participation and leadership in non-academic endeavors, which can consist of school-based extracurricular activities, volunteer work, employment, sports or any combination of out-of-class achievement.
