Dr. N. Payne Center for Social Justice executive director to speak about research and development innovation

April 30, 2024

The Dr. N. Joyce Payne Center for Social Justice executive director will serve as a panelist on an Advanced Education Research and Development Fund (AERDF) webinar about the essential role of research and development (R&D) in propelling America’s future on May 2 at 11 a.m. EST.

Dr. MC Brown II will join Roberto J. Rodriguez (U.S. Department of Education), Auditi Chakravarty (AERDF), Joshua Elliott (The Brains Initiative) for a 30-minute virtual conversation facilitated by Chris Liang-Vergara (AERDF).

“AERDF and their partners are on the cusp of a $25 million investment in the K-12/P-20 ecosystem. It is imperative for the needs of Black, Brown and low-income children to be considered when making resource investments to improve the educational outcomes of our nation. America’s schools need inclusive R&D to remain globally competitive,” Dr. Brown said.

The two-part session will allow attendees to:

  • Explore how Advanced Inclusive R&D can propel innovation
  • Discover how AERDF’s Advanced Inclusive R&D approach addresses long-standing teaching and learning challenges with guidance from Garron Hillaire, Kyla Haimovitz and Liang-Vergara of AERDF.
  • Learn about school and community opportunities for grant-supported R&D projects
  • Hear about the application process for AERDF’s program executive director, with eight finalists selected to join the AdvancED Fellowship in June 2024.

More details and registration can be found at AERDF.
