Underrepresented students pursuing higher education across the country have sought more inclusive experiences in recent years, foregoing Ivy League institutions and other PWIs. While undergraduate enrollment nationwide has dropped since the pandemic, applications at HBCUs have increased nearly 30%.
Research has clearly demonstrated the effects of unmet financial need, higher among underrepresented minority and low-income students, on retention and attainment in the pursuit of a postsecondary education.
Seeking to alleviate unmet need and increase the likelihood of degree or completion, Thurgood Marshall College Fund (TMCF) and their partners offer a variety of scholarships for the 2024-25 academic year. Deadlines for most scholarships are Dec. 6 at 11:59 p.m. ET. Available scholarships are need- and merit-based and apply to a wide variety of programs and majors. Common requirements include attending an HBCU or PBI, demonstrating financial need and carrying a specific cumulative GPA. Scholarship amounts range up to $15,000.
While critical, student scholarships are only one of TMCF’s strategic pillars. TMCF also provides wrap-around services such as leadership development, talent sourcing, internships and mentoring to ensure student success through educational excellence.
