How We Use Our Funds

Since its inception in 1987, TMCF has raised more than $300 million to support the 54 publicly-supported historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs), predominantly Black institutions (PBIs), and historically Black community colleges (HBCCs), as the nearly 300,000 students matriculating on our member-school campuses. TMCF has a proven track record of using our funds to efficiently and effectively fulfill our mission.

Corporate Scholar Programs

Our TMCF Corporate Scholar Programs promote career readiness through scholarships, leadership development, boot camps, and immersive experiences for hand-selected student leaders attending HBCUs and PBIs.

These highly competitive programs leverage the knowledge, experience, and network of top employers from around the country and TMCF staff to foster a collaborative learning community. Students develop key leadership skills, nurture their originality and receive hands-on experience that will prepare them to be career ready as they join the workforce.

How You Can Help Make a Difference

With federal funds supporting our member-schools being cut, the need for our work is critical and constantly growing.

  • For every student who gets a scholarship from TMCF, another seven apply who cannot be awarded a scholarship
  • For every student that attended our Leadership Institute, there were more who wanted to attend
  • For every $1 that TMCF invested in education, another $10 was needed in order to adequately address the various needs that we see on campus
  • For every student we cannot help to stay in school, there is a $1 million lifetime earnings reduction – leading to an overall negative impact on America’s economy
