The Thurgood Marshall College Fund (TMCF) 25th-annual Leadership Institute commenced in earnest on day two, leading off with a morning plenary about strategic listening in leadership communication from presenting sponsor Wells Fargo. The plenary concluded with an investment of more than $1.9 million from the company. Wells Fargo has served as the presenting sponsor of the conference for more than a decade.
During the morning plenary, students learned about the strategic use of social media to tell a story, the importance of self awareness and talking about yourself as a brand. They also participated in an activity about personal branding and the power of words to describe yourself.
The rest of the morning and early afternoon included breakout sessions about career, industry and transformative insights.
The afternoon plenary, sponsored by The Boeing Company, was about communicating in the age of artificial intelligence. Conversation included common misconceptions of AI and included a tabletop session and pitch competition.
Students visited the recruitment fair afterwards, making connections with TMCF’s corporate partners with hopes of landing an internship or job offer this week or in the future. The afternoon also included additional breakout sessions and coaching corner office hours, where participants can sharpen their skills to take on another day.
Day three is also jam packed, including the continuation of the recruitment fair and more insightful plenaries and breakout sessions.
