Thurgood Marshall College Fund founder and president commemorate 60th anniversary of Bloody Sunday in Selma

The Thurgood Marshall College Fund (TMCF) founder and president & CEO were in Selma, Alabama recently to commemorate the 60th anniversary of Bloody Sunday.

TMFC founder Dr. N. Joyce Payne and TMCF president & CEO Dr. Harry L. Williams were joined by Dr. Quinton T. Ross, Jr., president of Alabama State University, and Bryan Stevenson, founder and executive director of the Equal Justice Initiative in Selma.

Dr. Williams also participated in the HBCU President’s Roundtable on the Alabama State University campus, as part of the weekend’s events honoring the anniversary. He was a featured panelist as part of the event, which convened HBCU presidents to discuss policy, education reform and leadership strategies.

“It was an honor to be in Selma during this significant anniversary and to share ideas with exceptional leaders of historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs) and historically Black community colleges (HBCCs),” Dr. Wiliams said. “The act of remembering the past while forging ahead into the future provides a different perspective.”
