Top corporate and government recruitment partners will attend TMCF’s Leadership Institute to identify top talent from HBCUs

WASHINGTON, DC – Despite the COVID-19 pandemic, the Thurgood Marshall College Fund (TMCF) continues its tradition of convening one of the largest, most exclusive, talent and development recruiting conferences for students attending Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), and Predominately Black Institutions (PBIs) at the 20th Annual Leadership Institute presented by Wells Fargo.

The five-day award-winning conference will be held virtually from Wednesday, October 14 – Sunday, October 18, 2020, drawing more than 400 students from across the nation.

The Leadership Institute is designed to develop the hand-picked scholars’ leadership skills, provide companies access to a talented and diverse student population, and help students make meaningful connections that lead to successful internships, fellowships, and careers at Fortune 500 companies and government agencies.

“Wells Fargo is honored to be the presenting sponsor of the 20th Annual Leadership Institute, offering students from publicly-supported HBCUs and PBIs five-days of development and leadership sessions and networking opportunities,” said Rob Engel, head of Banking, Corporate & Investment Banking at Wells Fargo and a TMCF board member. “Over the past decade, Wells Fargo has donated more than $9 million to TMCF and seen firsthand the vital work they do to support students and communities of color. We are so proud to pledge our support to these great institutions and their important mission to educate the brilliant young minds of African American students.”

One of the highlights of the conference is the recruitment fair where major companies, government agencies, and graduate program representatives identify top talent and offer jobs, internships and continuing education opportunities. That tradition will continue using a virtual platform.

“No other organization in the higher education and talent development space provides Corporate America and government entities with such a diverse, high-quality talent pool of HBCU and PBI students in one place,” said Harry L. Williams, TMCF president & CEO. “We appreciate the ongoing support of our presenting partner Wells Fargo, and all of our recruitment partners who are investing not only in TMCF, but in future global leaders by supporting the Leadership Institute and literally changing lives.”
