TMCF mourns the passing of former NBA commissioner and TMCF board member David Stern

On behalf of the Thurgood Marshall College Fund, we mourn the loss of former NBA Commissioner, David Stern who was a founding member of the TMCF Board of Directors for 32 years.

His tireless commitment to higher education and our nation’s publicly-supported Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) was truly inspirational. From the David J. Stern Sports Scholarship Program to a brand new NBA entrepreneurial program he was working with us to launch this year, David Stern’s impact and legacy will live on in the lives of every HBCU student he worked to empower.”

Our deepest condolences from the entire TMCF family go to his wife, Dianne, sons Andrew and Eric and the entire extended Stern family.” Charles Merinoff, TMCF Board Chairman.
