Thurgood Marshall College Fund Statement On The White House HBCU Executive Order

July 22, 2019

WASHINGTON, DC – February 28, 2017 – “President Trump’s Executive Order issued today is a significant and a positive first step in what we hope to be a productive working relationship on behalf of the Black College Community with the White House and Trump Administration. We look forward to working with the Executive Branch and the Legislative Branch to ensure the President’s funding requests and the subsequent budget approved by Congress put the necessary resources into black colleges so they can continue doing the important work America needs them to do. Additionally, TMCF looks forward to working with Omarosa Manigault, a trusted adviser to President Trump and an alumna of two TMCF member-schools, Central State University and Howard University. We are encouraged to have her as our chief advocate and voice inside the White House. As the President moves this initiative from Department of Education to the White House, we now have a trusted advisor as a champion for HBCUs in the White House,” said Johnny C. Taylor, Jr., TMCF President & CEO.
