Statement on the SOAR Act approval by House Oversight and Government Reform Committee

July 22, 2019

Washington, DC (April 27, 2016) The Thurgood Marshall College Fund today released the following statement:

“The Thurgood Marshall College Fund (TMCF) applauds the continued leadership of Speaker Paul Ryan for keeping the issue of school choice for parents and students in the District of Columbia on the legislative forefront.

We appreciate the work of Chairman Jason Chaffetz and the entire House Oversight and Government Reform Committee for approving the Scholarships for Opportunity and Results (SOAR) Act out of Committee. TMCF urges Members to work in a bipartisan fashion to swiftly pass the renewal of H.R. 4901 when this important legislation is brought to the House floor.

We believe all parents deserve to give their children a fighting chance to attend a college or university of their choosing by having access to programs and choices provided in the SOAR Act.”
